What to Expect from a Gum Lift

Gum lifting or contouring is a surgical procedure, using a laser and a topical anesthetic, that has a relatively quick recovery time. While contouring the gum is a rather simple task, there are some instances where this is not enough. In this case, the bone on the front of the root might have to be reduced to achieve the best results. The gingival margins need to be about 3 millimeters from the edge of the bone; reducing the bone can prevent the tissue from growing back again.
